Two Saturdays carry most of Dorado's calendar between now and New Year's: Nov. 21 and Dec. 19. On both dates, Dorado Fresh fills Plaza Pública de Dorado from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The bigger ticketed nights land a few miles away at Parque Agroturístico El Dorado. And on Dec. 1, the season's one real physical change is expected on the Costa de Oro shoreline, where the municipality's beachfront hotel is expected to open under the Wyndham Garden name. The plaza, the park and the shoreline make up most of the season. Here's how they fit together.
The plaza's third Saturday sets the pace
Dorado Fresh is the Dorado edition of Mercado Local. Platea's guide to Puerto Rico markets describes it as a monthly market at Plaza Pública on the third Saturday, open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with local brands, artisans, agricultural producers, merchants and entrepreneurs. The todoPR listing shows three fall dates, Sat., Oct. 17, Sat., Nov. 21 and Sat., Dec. 19, all marked free. With October's date behind us, two remain this year.
The plaza already proved this month how much it can hold. On Oct. 17, the second Festival de la Calabaza brought more than 40 pumpkin-based food offerings to the same square, also 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to Metro Puerto Rico. If you missed it, the next chance to walk the square during a market is the Nov. 21 Dorado Fresh.
The plaza also hosts the town's Christmas kickoff. Last year, the Encendido Navideño took place on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Plaza Pública with a parade, music and the traditional Mercado Navideño. José Nogueras, Familia Sanabria and La Sonora Ponceña performed, per MiAgenda's listing. Periódico La Perla reported a 6 p.m. start, free parking, and transportation from Parque Agroturístico. The municipality hasn't announced this year's date yet. Until the 2026 schedule comes out, last year's late-November date is the best guide to when it might fall.
Parque Agroturístico El Dorado takes the bigger nights
Last year's shuttle arrangement pointed to the town's second hub. The Gran Parque Agroturístico, Ecológico y Recreativo El Dorado served as overflow parking for the plaza in 2025, and this year it hosts the season's two largest ticketed events.
- Festival Color Caribe, Nov. 27 to 29. todoPR lists showtimes Friday through Sunday at the park, with music and visual-art programming. It opens the day after Thanksgiving, so it works for hosting family who are in town for the long weekend.
- Caribbean Cocktail Fest, Sat., Dec. 5, 7 p.m. The listing shows a $65 ticket with unlimited drinks and a 90s Crush Show.
Both events are listed by third parties, so check times and ticketing with the organizers before you go.
Two quieter outings away from the crowds
Between the plaza and the park, two smaller events fill the weekdays and slower weekends.
The first is art. "Manos y Corazón," a free wood-carving exhibition, opens Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Museo y Escuela de Arte Marcos J. Alegría and runs through Dec. 5. todoPR lists it as open Monday through Saturday, with separate morning and afternoon hours. Because it's open on weekdays, you can fit in a visit before the weekend events pick up.
The second is pumpkins, out in the countryside. Calabazas PR Fest returned to Finca Pastoreo in Barrio Maguayo, on PR-694 at Km 5.5, with a grand opening on Oct. 2, 2026. The festival's official site describes an 18-day season with hours from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Event listings give different end dates and prices, and 18 days spread from early October suggests the patch isn't open every day. Check the festival's own calendar before you load the car.

Costa de Oro is where something new opens
Most of the events above come back every year. The biggest change of the season is on the Costa de Oro shoreline. The municipality's 53-room beachfront hotel, directly across from Manuel "Nolo" Morales Beach, will operate as Wyndham Garden Dorado, The Weekly Journal reported. Mayor Aníbal José Torres gave Dec. 1, 2026, as the expected opening date, once renovations are finished.
The process took time. The municipal legislature authorized a bid process to lease, operate and manage the hotel opposite Playa Sardinera on March 27, 2025. Hospitality entrepreneurs Mauricio Noguera and César Candia won that bid. The Weekly Journal notes that they already operate a Wyndham property in Isla Verde. Speaking to the same outlet, Noguera said, "This hotel offers something increasingly difficult to find: direct beach access." Candia said the pre-opening work includes a new terrace with panoramic ocean views and upgrades to the recreational areas.
The public beach across the street could change too, though it's further from happening. On Oct. 12, 2026, Metro Puerto Rico reported that legislators are looking for a way to begin rehabilitating the Nolo Morales balneario. Proposals include work on parking, restrooms and administrative offices, a new entrance booth, grounds maintenance and a security fence. For now these are proposals and a planned visit, with no work underway. The hotel has a target date. The balneario upgrades don't have one yet.
If you have guests visiting in December, the Wyndham opening means another lodging option a short walk from the sand on the Costa de Oro side of town. Confirm that it has actually opened before you send anyone there.
Dinner, and the last night of the year
For a sit-down meal in town, Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Teppanyaki Experience is one of the newer restaurants. Platea's roundup of new 2026 restaurants places it at Paseo la Plata Shopping Center with an April 26 opening and 30 employees at launch. Teppanyaki is cooked at the table, which makes it an easy pick for a group dinner after a market day or the Color Caribe weekend.
The year ends on the resort side of town. Viva 2027, on Thursday, Dec. 31, at Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort, is listed with Arnaldo "El Más Querido," the Siglo 21 Steel Band, a buffet and an open bar.
We follow Dorado's calendar as closely as its sales, because the third-Saturday market, the shoreline at Costa de Oro and the new tables at Paseo la Plata are part of what daily life here looks like. If you have questions about your part of town as the year closes out, the team at Troyer & Co is glad to talk it through with you.
